weigh in

Our weigh in for March was yesterday, and while I'm ever so slightly disappointed in my results, I'm also very proud of myself.  I lost 8 pounds for the month, which brings my total to 19 pounds down in 10 weeks.  My goal was 10 pounds a month, but I'm good with the 8!  I just finished a hard work out this morning, so I'm going to keep on truckin!  I hope everyone in the contest is feeling like this is worth it, because it is.  It seems like a lot of people are having trouble finding motivation, and unfortunately, you have to find it within yourself to realize you CAN do it.  No one can do it for you.  So I wish you all good luck, and keep going!

I go to a kickboxing class every Monday and Wednesday with a few girls that I work with.  It's so convenient, right after work, and just across the street, so there is no reason not to go!  I love it, and it's a great workout.  I'm already nervous about when the class ends in a few weeks!   

My goal is to lose 10 pounds a month.  Our weigh in is on Saturday, and today is Wednesday.  I still have 3 pounds to lose to make it to my goal this month - stayed tuned to see if I make it to my goal!

Traveling

I decided at the last minute to go visit my parents and family in Chicago on this past Thursday for a long weekend. I knew this would be a big test for me as my mother loves to go out to dinner, especially when there is someone visiting.  I am pretty proud of myself - went for a long walk with my daughter while I was there and when we did go out to dinner, I chose very well.  So, first major test down!

Kids

My youngest daughter, who just turned 13, is a competitive swimmer, during her winter season she swims about 6-8 hours a week and during the summer it's probably a little more.  She ended her season on February 23 this year.  The other day she was telling me about a fitness test she had to do during gym, and said "it was tough!  Boy, I need to get back in the pool".  I had to laugh.  To be a kid again!  I am exercising more and more, but I can't say that I would miss it as much as she does!  I take kickboxing classes through my work twice a week and I do love it - I've also been using my treadmill, and doing an exercise DVD.  I'll be excited when school ends for me in May and I can devote more time to getting fit.  Get out and get it done everyone!

I started this "journey" (although I hate that term, it sounds like there is an ending to this, which there isn't.  Its a lifestyle change) almost 7 weeks ago.  My  new way of life is becoming a habit.  Exercising, eating right, it's really not as hard as we all think it is.  I still eat junk food, although way less than i used to!  In fact, right before I put something in my mouth, whether it's considered "bad" food or even "good food" it ask myself if I need the food, and whether I'm hungry.  Sometimes the answer is yes, I do need this food because it's good for me and I haven't eaten in a few hours.  Sometimes, of course, the answer is no.  So usually, when the answer is no, I don't eat it.  But of course, every once in a while, I still eat it and don't beat myself up about it.  Always move forward, and don't look back!
